2013 May 15

Candice Garber, a pre-pharmacy student from Brunswick, Ohio, was among 13 students inducted by the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford into Alpha Lambda Delta, the national honor society for first-year students.

Students are eligible for membership if they earn a grade point average of 3.5 during their first term of full-time study while pursuing a baccalaureate degree. Students who earn at least a 3.5 average after two terms are also eligible for membership.

Founded in the Spring Term of 1924 at the University of Illinois, Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence among first-year students. Today, Alpha Lambda Delta has over 240 chapters throughout the nation. Pitt-Bradford established a chapter of the national Alpha Lambda Delta in April 1988.

Dr. Holly J. Spittler, associate dean of student affairs and advisor to the group, and Kyle Meserole, a sophomore majoring in sport and recreation management and outgoing ALD president from Bradford, conducted the induction ceremony.
