2014 May 21

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford's student newspaper, The Source, has won a first place award for excellence from the Scholastic Press Association in its annual contest for scholastic yearbooks, magazines, and newspapers for 2014.

Among the students on the staff was Jody Randolph, a(n) public relations major from Bradford, Pa.

The judges' critique noted that The Source is "an excellent [college] newspaper, which shows the creativity and journalistic knowledge of your editors, reporters, writers, photographers, layout/graphic designers and adviser."

The association's judges also made a number of suggestions for improvements that will be taken into consideration for next year, said Tim Ziaukas, professor of public relations and faculty advisor for the paper.

The Source is beginning its fourth decade of reporting the news on the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. The newspaper appears six times during the fall and springs terms. Staffed by students studying in the Division of Communication and the Arts, the paper is funded by Pitt-Bradford's Student Government Association.
